Why Designs for Life?

I love helping my clients turn their houses into homes where they can live , entertain and connect with their families. Its is more rewarding to be able to add safe, comfortable and accessible to that description.

Our story is not uncommon. We are a family of three generations living under one roof. My husband, Jim, and I are in our early 70's with a few health issues who both love our work and have no plans to retire any time soon. Our son, Bryan, was diagnosed with ALS eight years ago. He has increasing limitations with mobility and independence. My mother, Dot, who just celebrated her 92nd birthday, remains active in helping us care for one another.


4 years ago, I met my biggest challenge in my 30 as an Interior Designer – the need to transform our house into a comfortable, safe and accessible home that meets our long-term individual needs.Consequently, my perspective on design has evolved. I have always prided myself on my ability to meet the needs of my clients whether they were first time home owners or First Ladies of Universities. Now, my personal experiences and new found knowledge allow me to provide so much more.


I am the only Interior Designer in the Wichita area to be a Certified Living In Place Professional ( CLIPP) as well as a practitioner of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). I have been practicing interior design in south central Kansas for over 30 year. Vicki Flores and Interiors for Life place great emphasis on designing interiors for your life. My specialties include multi-generational design (multiple generations living under one roof.) and creating spaces that are comfortable,safe and accessible as well as beautiful.Change is life's only certainty, so I try to anticipate those changes for your family when we work together on your design plan. I want your home to be your favorite place to be...Today and Tomorrow

High Point Market April 2018  We all need inspiration in our creative lives and for me it is a week in High Point North Carolina Furniture Market every April. (They also have a Market in October but it never fits into my schedule as well.) The journey to High Point North Carolina is not for the faint of heart. There is no airport serving the city, so you must fly into one of 3 that are each at least an hour shuttle ride from your destination. And forget about staying in the city of High Point. Vendors and Furniture dealers with multiple stores, have standing arrangements with hotels and their version of the Air B&B. I Love "Living Coral" and so does Pantone

  THIS IS TRULY MY HAPPY COLOR!                       THANK YOU  COLOR GODS                               aka  Color Marketing Group Last year it was ULTRA VIOLET. Great for a sweater or a couple of throw pillows, but....Color of the Year? Coral adds a touch of warmth and compliments so many other neutrals. I helped a client with this bedroom 5 years ago. Warm and inviting with touches of vibrant coral. This eclectic living space is a compilation of a dozen colors and patterns . This lively coral hold it all together. This space was done about 3 years ago. It is about time  Coral got it's color award.

An Amazing Find In Arkansas

In May,  Jim and I  took along weekend with our friends the Thompsons', to Bentonville Arkansas, better known as the home of the Sam Walton Clan and Walmart. They had traveled through the area a few years ago, stopping at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and were disappointed that they didn't have more time to spend there. Always up for a road trip, I was excited to spend time with our friends, but did not have high expectations for our destination. I could not have been more wrong! Bentonville  is a small city with a big history. The town square is so picturesque and it is lined with small shops and amazing restaurants. We visited the Sam Walton Museum and ate ice cream on park benches. But the real highlight was a world class art museum in the middle of  the forests of Arkansas. I encourage you to make this trip!
